A letter from a teenage Filipino to the WHOLE WORLD

Since the tragic and gruesome ending of the bus siege that took place in Manila, Philippines last Monday night, August 23, 2010 that left 9 people dead including the gunman, ex-Captain Rolando Mendoza, we are all busy insulting and blaming the PNP, the government officials and the media. We never think of a way on how to help ease the rising anger of the Chinese people towards our country. While we're busy adding insult to the injury, a student named Reigno Jose Dilao wrote a letter of apology, in behalf of the Philippines, to the world:

As you are reading this letter, I bet that you have seen/heard about what happened earlier in our country.
Tourists were hostages of a policeman here, Rolando Mendoza. After a few hours of the horrible crime, some of the victims were dead including the hostage-taker.
I wrote this letter not just to apologize but also to let everyone know that we Filipinos are not all like Mendoza. We are loving and good-hearted people.
For so many years, our country has been standing tall and surpassing every dilemma; be it small or big. Years ago (back when I wasn’t born yet), you have watched us fight for what we think is right. We fought for the democracy of our nation.. The EDSA revolution. But that’s just one out of many.
Second. We Filipinos have been serving other countries for our families and we treat you as our own as well. With all due respect, I thank you all for giving us the trust through the years. For helping us to become what we are now.
The Philippines is more than just a group of islands. We are a nation of strong and remarkable people. A country of beauty and love known to be hospitable and well-valued. I humbly apologize for what happened tonight. No one in this world would want something like that to happen for life should be valued.
I politely ask the attention of the world. Please do not judge and mistreat us just because of what happened tonight. I have been searching the net and found terrible things. Hong Kong advices to avoid travels here, China and HK bans Filipinos and that Philippines is the worst place to go.
I can’t blame you for what you have decided but I hope that you could understand. Our country is now in a sea of problems. And I know for sure that we helped you in a way or another. Let peace and understanding reign this time.
I know that this letter will just be trash but I wish that you would understand. On behalf of the Philippine population.. WE ARE SORRY.
As a song puts it…
And I believe that in my life I will see an end to hopelessness, giving-up and suffering. And we all stand together this one time then no one will get left behind. Stand up for life. STAND UP FOR LOVE
Sincerely yours,
Reigno Jose Dilao

Jackie Chan: Don't worry HK people don't hate...

Jackie Chan, Hong Kong's cheeky, lovable and best known film star, extend a hand of friendship to the Filipinos amidst the rising anger in Hong kong due to the tragic and gruesome ending of the hostage crisis that took place in the Philippines last Monday, August 23, 201. Eight  Chinese nationals were killed and others are wounded.

He just came back from Korea when he heard the news. Just like any other Chinese people Chan is saddened by the news.
Chan wrote in his twitter, @EyeOfJackieChan,
"I come back to HK and I hear terrible news about what happened in filippines. A lot of things dont happen to your own country you don't pay attention "

" I remember the day before in Korea we talked about how people should love each other. We already have so many natural disasters..typhoon, tsunami, everything. Humans should be united and not kill or hate each other "

" this kind of things always happen around the world. It happened to hk's people, the whole hk is talking about it. Its really sad."

" If they killed the guy sooner, they will say why not negotiate first? If they negotiate first, they ask why not kill the guy sooner? So sad.."

" HK is a nation built by a lot of different people..don't worry! We do not hate! "

It is so kind of Jackie Chan to extend his hand to the Philippines after what had happened to his fellow Chinese nationals But he is right let's be united. Let's not kill and hate each other.

Miss Mexico wins Universe crown; RP's Venus is 4th runner-up

LAS VEGAS - A 22-year-old Mexican woman won the Miss Universe pageant Monday night while a 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit off the west coast of her country. Donning a flowing red gown, Jimena Navarrete of Guadalajara told the audience it's important to teach kids family values. She was the first to answer an interview question and the last of 83 contestants standing in the headline-grabbing pageant on the Las Vegas strip. The earthquake struck 290 kilometers from the town of Puerto Vallarta in the state of Jalisco, according to the US Geological Survey. In its preliminary report, the monitoring service said the quake had a strength of 6.4, but it revised the figure downwards later. It struck at 9:11 p.m. Jalisco time (0211 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers, the USGS said in its revised report. No tsunami warning was issued, and Aaron Gutierrez of Mexico's National Seismological Service said the quake was not likely to cause any damage. In Legazpi City, family members, relatives, close friends, and fellow Bicolanos said Ma. Venus Raj could have bagged the Miss Universe crown had she decided to tell the judges that the stripping by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities International (BPCI) of her crown was the worst she had experienced in life. Raj's eldest sister Lilibeth said her youngest sibling opted to down play the issue so as not to put the BPCI in a bad light. "Venus is always willing to sacrifice her personal interest if to do otherwise will hurt others," she told The STAR in Filipino. "Venus really promised not to mention that dethronement issue again. "She told us many times that she wanted to bury the experience to oblivion." Lilibeth said Venus could have given a better answer if another question was asked by the judge. "We are really very jubilant that Venus made it to the final five," she said. "Imagine, she bested her 78 rival candidates." Jessa Jarilla, fourth year journalism student of Bicol University College of Arts and Letters, where Raj graduated cum laude, said her "Ate Venus" has brought so much pride to the BU when she was named fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant. "We supported her from the very start in her quest for the Miss Universe crown," she said. "We are so proud when she was included in the final five. For us that is too much achievement already that a Bicolano can give to her country." Some Bicolanos said the pageant judge had given Venus the wrong 'ugly' question. "Had the judge given Venus any question but that one, she could have won the Miss Universe crown," according to supporters of Venus. The Associated Press reported that the Miss Universe pageant was without any major gaffes, except for Venus's answer when asked what her biggest mistake in life was and how she fixed it. "In my 22 years of existence, I can say there is nothing major," the AP quoted Venus as saying. Navarrete's one-strap dress flowed behind her like a sheet as she walked during the evening gown competition. Earlier, she smiled in a violet bikini as she confidently strutted across the stage. Asked by Olympic gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek how she felt about unsupervised Internet use, Navarrete said the Internet is important but parents need to be careful and watch over their kids. "I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time," she said through an interpreter. "We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family." First runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while second runner-up was Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell.

Mexico's 2nd Miss U

Navarrete, who's been modeling since she was 15, is Mexico's second Miss Universe. Lupita Jones of Mexico won the title in 1991. Navarrete replaces Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela. Navarrete's win thwarted Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson from giving the South American country a third consecutive victory. Neither Gibson nor Miss USA Rima Fakih made the top 15 finalists. Navarrete was immediately congratulated on Twitter by Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala. "Congratulations to Jimena Navarrete for her deserved victory as Miss Universe," Calderon said. "This will serve Mexico, (and) our image as a country." With fans in some 190 countries watching on television and keeping tabs on social networks, Navarrete and her competitors introduced themselves while wearing over-the-top national costumes. They then danced in silver and black dresses for the show's opening number before the top 15 finalists were announced. The final 15 walked in swimsuits while Cirque du Soleil musicians played Elvis Presley songs including "Viva Las Vegas." The last 10 impressed in their gowns while John Legend and the roots played a soulful medley including "Save Room." By the end of the show, seven of the top 10 trending topics on Twitter had to do with the pageant, its contestants, its judges or owner Donald Trump. The mogul co-owns the pageant with TV network NBC. Before the pageant, Raj was rated among the top contestants in an online poll on the pageant's website. Navarrete won a package of prizes including an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, plus jewelry, clothes and shoes fit for a beauty champion. Campbell won the Miss Congeniality Universe award. Miss Thailand Fonthip Watcharatrakul won Miss Photogenic Universe and a second award for having the best national costume. Fakih, a 24-year-old Lebanese immigrant from Dearborn, Michigan, spurred celebrations among Arab-Americans when she won Miss USA. Pageant records aren't detailed enough to show whether Fakih is the first Arab-American, Muslim or immigrant to win Miss USA. Miss USA has not been named Miss Universe since Brook Lee won the title in 1997. -AP, Cet Dematera

$35 Million Lawsuit against Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton is now facing a new lawsuit for wearing the wrong hair.

Funny as it may seem but a company that manufactures hair extensions claimed that the 29-year-old socialite breached her contract to wear and promote their product when she sported the fake locks of a competitor two years ago. The filing also claims Hilton missed a launch party for the hair extension line because she was serving a stint in jail in 2007 which result to a company's lost amounting to $6.6 Million.

Hairtech International Inc. is seeking $35 million in damages — 10 times what she was apparently paid under the contract.
